Eastlight completes 128-home acquisition from L&Q

Resident-led housing association Eastlight Community Homes has taken ownership of 128 homes in Essex from L&Q.

The homes, all in Tendring and Braintree districts in Essex, are primarily general needs homes and also include a number of shared ownership and freehold homes.

This is the third stock deal completed by Eastlight this year, and the landlord now owns and manages around 14,500 homes across the East of England.

In September, Eastlight acquired 703 homes in Essex and Suffolk from Clarion Housing Group. Later that month, Estuary Housing Association transferred 29 homes in Halstead, Essex, to Eastlight.

Eastlight’s Chief Executive, Emma Palmer, said:

“On behalf of Eastlight, I’d like to offer a warm welcome to all residents transferring from L&Q.

“Owning and managing more homes in our core operating areas helps make us a stronger organisation: one best placed to provide the place-based services and experiences desired by new and existing Eastlight residents.”

The transfer follows a consultation period, which saw L&Q provide online and in-person opportunities for affected residents to meet their new landlord.

Eastlight is now issuing welcome packs to new residents and will contact them to introduce themselves and address any questions or issues they have.

Eastlight is a G1 V1-rated organisation from the Regulator of Social Housing.
