Congratulations to our new Customer Influence Committee Chair
Eastlight resident, Catherine Turner, is the new Chair of our resident-led committee.
The Customer Influence Committee (CIC) is a vital part of our governance structure, comprising eight residents who bridge the gap between Eastlight’s Board and residents.
The Committee directly connects residents’ voices to the top of our organisation and across the wider sector. Resident Committee Members help to shape and scrutinise our strategies, policies and services, with each member the lead for a different service area, ensuring the CIC is always involved in decision-making in committee meetings.
Alongside their strategic function, in recent months, they’ve also helped to create our four new local repairs service patches and judged our annual Values Awards for staff.
Catherine, from Colchester, joined the CIC in 2022 and, over the last year, has been responsible for overseeing complaints, affordability, income and cost-of-living.
Catherine said:
“I’m really pleased to be appointed Chair of CIC. I’m deeply thankful to Michelle for her vision and passion that have got us to the fantastic position we’re in today; and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and playing my part with the challenges and exciting work we’ve got coming up.”
Hattie Llewelyn-Davies, Chair of our Board, said:
“I am really delighted that Catherine has taken on this role. Michelle was essential to setting up the CIC and to making it the powerhouse of Eastlight. Catherine will continue to drive the influence and decision-making by the CIC, ensuring residents are central to everything we do at Eastlight.”
Previous Chair, Michelle Baker, is now taking on an exciting new role working for the Regulator of Social Housing.
Having joined Eastlight in 2020 as a Trainee Committee Member, Michelle has become a high-profile advocate for Eastlight residents and social housing tenants across the UK.
Best of luck to you both!
