British Sign Language (BSL) Now Available to Eastlight Customers
At Eastlight, we are committed to making our services accessible to all residents across our 14,500 homes.
We are delighted to announce that we now offer British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation through SignVideo, ensuring that our deaf and hard of hearing residents can communicate with us easily and effectively.
There are over 150,000 deaf BSL users in the UK, and for many, English is a second language, meaning that our texts, emails and live chats might not be suitable for everyone. With SignVideo, BSL users can now connect with the Eastlight team directly using their first language, without any barriers.
What is SignVideo?
SignVideo is a Video Relay Service (VRS) that allows BSL users to communicate with hearing individuals over the phone. The service connects BSL users with a qualified interpreter who will relay the conversation to our Customer Services Team.
The call process is seamless and mirrors a standard phone call, ensuring that your experience with us is as straightforward as possible.
Our partnership with SignVideo forms part of our broader commitment to inclusivity, recognising that everyone deserves equal access to our services, no matter how they communicate.
How can you use SignVideo?
Contacting us via SignVideo is simple:
- Visit our website: Go to the Contact Us page on our website and click ‘Get in Touch’
- Click the Call Button: You'll find a button that says ‘Chat to us via BSL’. Click it to initiate a call
- Connect to an Interpreter: You will be connected to a SignVideo interpreter who will then connect you to our Customer Services Team.
