    Communal cleaning

We work with our contractor THINK to clean and maintain internal communal areas. Please help them by ensuring that communal hallways and electric cupboards are clear of any personal items.

If you live in one of our general needs blocks of flats that currently has a communal cleaning service in place you can expect a fortnightly clean of internal communal areas and a 6-monthly deep clean of flooring.

    The cleaning service includes:

    • Cleaning of Main Entrance door and area beneath front canopy.
    • Vacuuming
    • Damp mopping
    • Removal or dust, debris, internal litter, cobwebs (where accessible)
    • Cleaning of internal glazing.
    • Some of our blocks have external communal windows cleaned as well (quarterly) and an annual gutter clean by our contractor Monthind.

Completed visits and tasks are recorded on a checklist on your noticeboard.

Housing for Older Person Schemes with shared facilities such as kitchens, lounges, guest rooms and sanitary facilities are cleaned at least once a week. Because they are cleaned more regularly, we only complete deep cleans when needed.

To report any issues with communal cleaning, please contact us here.

Eastlight’s grounds maintenance contractor is Countrywide.

Countrywide will provide the following service:

A lawn mower is cutting grass.

Grass

Grass is cut 16 times a year, every 2-3 weeks (weather permitting) between March and November.

Before cutting, they will clear litter. Afterwards, at most sites, they will leave grass cuttings and sweep any on footpaths onto the grass.

A hedge cutter is cutting a hedge.

Hedges

Hedges are cut twice per year between August and March.

We avoid bird nesting season, which is between early spring and late summer.

Metal shears cutting a shrub.

Shrubs

Shrubs are pruned twice a year between August and March, outside of nesting season.

Countrywide will visit six times a year to hoe, weed, edge, and remove any litter from beds.

Green weeds growing between pavement bricks.

Weeds on hard surfaces

Weeds on hard surfaces are treated four times a year between April and October.

Between treatments and once weeds have died off, they will be swept each time to remove dead weeds, moss and detritus.

Leaf clearance

Leaf Clearance is carried out when reported.
