At Eastlight, we believe in doing the right thing. That means operating with integrity, transparency, and accountability. However, there are times when things go wrong – and when that happens, it's crucial to speak up so we can address it.
What is Whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is when a person reports concerns about wrongdoing, risk, or harm that affects others. This might include things like fraud, health and safety risks, safeguarding concerns, discrimination, or a serious misuse of resources.
It’s not about personal complaints or grievances — it’s about raising serious issues that are in the public interest and pose a threat to our organisation and residents.
Why Whistleblowing Matters
Whistleblowing helps protect our residents, staff, and the services we provide. It plays a crucial role in:
-
Preventing harm or wrongdoing before it escalates
-
Upholding the highest standards of conduct across our organisation
-
Ensuring that funds are used properly and fairly
-
Strengthening trust and accountability in everything we do
Read our Policy
Our Whistleblowing Policy sets out the process for raising a whistleblowing concern and seeks to reassure individuals that it is acceptable and safe for them to raise such concerns without fear of detriment.
All disclosures (i.e. the sharing of information relating to potential wrongdoing) will be acted upon promptly, sensitively, fairly and properly, and confidentiality will be respected wherever possible.
