275 homes to receive £2.4 million investment
Residents living in 275 homes should see their energy bills and carbon footprint reduce after Eastlight Community Homes secures £1.2 million of critical Government funding.
The Braintree-based housing association will also invest an additional £1.2 million, bringing the total investment to £2.4 million over the next three years.
This funding will help 275 homes to slice their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint while ensuring their homes are warmer, more comfortable and environmentally friendly.
The investment will go into making vital energy-saving improvements including installing solar panels to generate renewable energy, air source heat pumps for low-carbon heating and loft insulation to improve heat retention.
Charlotte Todd, Executive Director of Property Services, says:
“Eastlight is committed to improving the energy efficiency of our homes and this funding will allow us to deliver real, long-term benefits while bringing us closer to our goal of ensuring all homes meet the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) grade C by 2030.”
“We know energy bills are a growing concern for many residents and improving their energy efficiency is one of the most effective ways to help. This investment will enable us to help residents save money, stay warm in their homes and reduce their carbon footprint to support wider sustainability efforts.”
Eastlight resident, Craig Clackett, took part in Eastlight’s pilot programme to understand the benefits new technology can offer for energy efficiencies and cost savings.
“I’m near enough running on net zero now so I’m very pleased,” he said. “This funding will help more residents to save money on their energy bills and contribute towards a more sustainable future.”
The provisional allocation of £1.2 million from the fund will help Eastlight to continue its commitment to enhancing the quality of homes, reducing their carbon footprint and supporting residents.
