Sustainable technology helps residents in Greenstead Green to lower their energy bills
We’re proud to have partnered with gas contractor, Axis, to make six bungalows in Greenstead Green more sustainable.
Completed in just three weeks, the homes now have modern solar PV panels installed on their roofs to harness the power of the sun and efficiently generate electricity.
Helping residents to lower their energy bills and receive income for the electricity they export to the power grid, this sustainable solution is a critical step to our wider commitment of ensuring all Eastlight homes meet EPC Grade C by 2030.
Assistant Asset Manager (Sustainability), Phil Porter, said: “We’ve been working together for just over a year on various renewable technology works, including solar PV works. It’s been a pleasure.”
“The works have reduced residents’ dependence on the grid, thanks to generating their own electricity, which, in turn, lowers their utility bills too. Through the use of a SMART meter, we’ve also enabled residents to get payments for the extra electricity they feed back into the grid.”
Eastlight resident and Customer Influence Committee Member, Mick Ryan, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted by the installation. I think it’s an opportunity - particularly for people who are on a lower income, retired or have disabilities - to make considerable savings on their electricity bills. And, obviously, it’s good for the planet.”
“I’d like to thank Eastlight and Axis for installing the panels, they’ve done an excellent job.”
